'Modi issued orders to eliminate minorities'

NEW DELHI, April 14: In startling revelations about Muslims pogrom in Gujarat during 2002, Additional Director General of Gujarat Police RB Sreekumar said that Chief Minister Narindera Modi and his bureaucrats had issued illegal orders including elimination of minorities in 2002.

"They also distorted the facts about the actual situation in the state during his tenure as state intelligence chief," Sreekumar added in his explosive submission to the Central Administrative Tribunal, according to a news report carried by leading Indian daily 'Times of India' in Thursday's issue.

Sreekumar also told about how Modi himself issued instructions to tape the phones of state Congress chief S.Vaghela, his former cabinet minister Haren Pandya and certain Muslim police officers.

He has made the revelations in a blow-by-blow account in a "semi-official" diary annexed to his petition before the tribunal, the report said. The diary contains details of his interactions as additional DGP (intelligence) between April 16 and September 19, 2002, with Narindera Modi and other officials.

An entry of June 28, 2002, says that after a meeting to discuss preparations for the forthcoming rath yatra, the Chief Secretary G Subbarao told Sreekumar: "If someone is trying to disturb the rath yatra or planning to spoil the same that person be eliminated," added the report.

Sreekumar said that Modi rubbished a note prepared by him on the communal situation at a meeting on May 7, 2002, and asked him to concentrate on "Muslim militants".

Modi told him not to concentrate on Sangh Parivar as they were not doing anything illegal. In fact, Modi said he would provide him intelligence on the Sangh Parivar, he added, according to the report.

Sreekumar notes how top bureaucrats in the state did not like his candid presentation before Chief Election Commission J M Lyngdoh on the prevailing scenario in the state at that time. He was even admonished for giving a reply that did not conform to that given by then Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani before parliament, the report said. -APP

the actual figures of muslims butchered in gujarat is as high as 5000. Since narender modi was elected again with a much bigger victory margin after the gujarat massacre then one can easily judge that he indeed reflected the aspirations and real intention of guajaratis/indians towards the muslims and other minorties. Recently narender modi was invited in usa to give lectures to different NRI organistations in USA and most of the NRIs, who invited him r actually working r doctor/engineer and other educated bodies and it reflects that the most of the facist and extremist hindu organisations r being sponsored by those well-educated NRIs.shocking! insnt it?

Thnx for your support . But i dont think pakistan has anything to do with this. Its more on the part of indian muslims , who should be aware of the fact around and rise up . Use their resources to fullest , because they are still in power, the current leaders should lay out some strong foundation for the future of muslims in india .. As the muslim leaders is demenshing day by day in the indian government... God forbid , this can be a downfall of indian muslims in india....

I disagree with you. I do think pakistan has to do with it. I know many hindus that think of indian muslims and pakistanis as "the same thing." maybe we dont have to do with this exact situation directly but we are trying to have "dosti" with a bunch of muslim haters. And i thin pakistan should think twice cuz afterall we are a muslim country, and if they cant stand the muslims that live in their own country who work with them, and live with them and are indians, then why would hey be so excited about dosti with a muslim country that has been having disputes with them since independence. These dumbe ass hindus just cant digest the fact that muslims took over them many times in history and then managed to break away into a separate homeland. The Asian American Hotel Owner Association's (AAHOA) has created a storm in US by inviting a militant,anti-minority Indian politician to its annual convention. AAHOA will be honoring Narendra Modi, the Chief executive of the Indian state of Gujarat who is accused of sharing responsibility in the massacres, sexual mutilations and rapes of Muslims and persecution of Christians, indigenous tribes and moderate Hindus.

Narendra Modi has been indicted by various Indian and International human rights organizations for his role in the pogroms directed at the Muslim community in Gujarat in 2002. He was criticized by the Supreme Court of India as a modern day Nero for his actions during the 2002 massacres and has two cases lodged against him in the State of Gujarat.

The AAHOA’s membership predominantly consists of immigrants from Modi's home state. Its decision to honor Modi in its convention and trade fair on March 24 - 26 has been controversial in the organization itself. [b]<span style="color:red">AAHOA’s decision to invite Modi raises the speculation that Indian American Professional Organizations are being infiltrated by sectarian ultra-nationalists and have become conduits for their fundraising and political support in US.</span>

In response to these disturbing developments, a wide spectrum of organizations based in US have come together to form a coalition - Coalition Against Genocide (CAG). The member organizations in CAG have diverse backgrounds including community-based groups, developmental groups, human rights groups and academic experts that have been coordinating their efforts against the spread of religious hatred in India. CAG asserts that its stand is a just and moral stand and is in the best interest of the US society, the Indian Diaspora and India.

CAG will adopt a multi pronged strategy to expose and marginalize the extremists and will work towards safeguarding the pluralist ethos of India and the economic well being of the Indian Diaspora in US.

The Coalition has demanded that AAHOA rescind its invitation to Narendra Modi. CAG has brought to attention the fact that Modi's party has been glorifying Hitler and his genocidal policies in the state run schools. Modi is in close alliance with and promotes the extreme right-wing Hindutva movement that is supremacist and anti-minority and whose members were responsible for the assassination of Gandhi. This movement was formed on the model of Mussolini's Fascist party in the 1920s and has been glorifying Hitler since the 1930s.

CAG is hopeful that AAHOA members will take these facts into account and force its Board to rescind the invitation given to Mr. Modi.
