New York - Crude oil prices on Thursday hit a record 60 dollars a barrel in New York on concern of rising demand for oil and its impact on world energy supplies.
Crude for August delivery was up to 60 dollars per barrel before drifting down in afternoon trading to 59.80 dollars, a rise of 1.71 dollars over Wednesday's closing price.
Oil prices have risen 59 per cent in the past year.
Thursday's increase came after the U.S. Energy Department issued a report showing that the domestic demand for fuel continued to rise despite higher costs, giving rise to concern that refiners would have a hard time pumping up their supplies before the high-demand winter season.
My truck gives 20 miles per gallon...so Im one of those badly hit by this immense increase in gas prices. Next week..we will be looking at a price of abt $ 3/gallon.
How many MPG does ur car /truck give? Will u be looking to make any change in ur routine life to overcome the effect ?
