NEW DELHI: Watching a movie on a weekend is a subcontinental leisure - no matter whether you are in Lahore or Lucknow. The Musharraf family is no exception.
Currently on a visit here, they got an opportunity on Saturday to watch a film they had wanted to see back home but couldn't because of a ban imposed by the Musharraf regime.
After a satisfying meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Musharraf's son Bilal and the Pakistani president's brother Javed went to the Films Division auditorium at Mahadev Road for a special screening of Khamosh Paani.
Made in Pakistan, Sabiha Sumar's film has a special meaning for the Musharrafs - it is a scathing critique of Zia-ul-Haq's Islamisation programme and its impact on the ordinary Pakistani.
According to sources in the I&B ministry, the film was shown following a request from Pakistan high commissioner Aziz Ahmed Khan. Begum Zarin, General Musharraf's mother, however, could not come
