Pakistan To Get Latest Version Of F-16s: President

<span style="color:darkblue">April 24, 2005: President General Pervez Musharraf said that “The inclusion of P 3 C Orion aircraft, F 22-P Frigates and acquisition of F-16 fighter aircraft, would certainly enhance the offensive punch of our defence. These state- of- the- art platforms will augment our defence capabilities and play a pivotal role in any future scenario”.
The President stated while addressing the debrief session of Pakistan Navy’s wargame Shamsheer- e- Bahr-II held at PNS Jauhar on Monday morning.

The President appreciated the close coordination of three services during the exercises and said the lessons emerging from the exercise are very practical and would go a long way in validating Pakistan Navy’s operational plans and doctrines. He emphasized that good cohesion and coordination between the three Armed Forces would prove to be a key to all solutions.

He further said the economy and defence are the two pillars on which the very existence and prosperity of any nation rests. It is heartening to note that we have cemented both the pillars, he added.</span>

actually thats not 100% true. the latest version of the F16 which is at about $50 million is not available for sale. anyhow i think its time that with the help of China Pakistan now start building its own planes. The planes should either match the F16 or be better than them. Currently the F-7PG is a plane that barely matches the F-16. it is not good enough. The F-7PG is being used to replace our A and old F fighters. i think it is time to update and make something better. better avionics, better manouverability. etc. etc.

this is very nice info..btw i have a question for you guys..wasn't pak making a jet with a 50% share of China..?i heard that it is 75% like the f-16...

this is very nice info..btw i have a question for you guys..wasn't pak making a jet with a 50% share of China..?i heard that it is 75% like the f-16...well it is less than 75% of the F-16. thats the whole problem. and in my initial post i by accident wrote F-7PG. thats not the name. its the JF-17 Thunder or Super 7. it is a very good plane and it will take over from our old F-7s and the old Attack aircrafts and the mirages. but it is not as good as the F-16.

On one hand we are blaming US for everything. Everyone is anti-US in our country but the truth is without US our defense is nothing. Yes we do have partnerships going on with China and other country but to get top of the line weapon system we still needs US to be on our side.

Well this is not entirely true. Had Pakistan chose the path of self reliance early on we would be making at least 4th generation fighter jets by now. JF-17 is a step in the right direction and even before that Pakistan's Rebuild complexes had already made modifications in the existing air fleet and significantly increased the capabilities of these aircraft. So Pakistan has the capability to survive even without US and we have been doing for the past two decades.

Well better late than never, Pakistan has realized that now and I think JF-17 is a 4th generation fighter and once it is inducted in PAF, we won't have to rely on US that much.

Regarding the latest version of F-16s, Pakistan is getting Block 50 and 52 version. This version is the latest version. The only one better than this is Block 60 which is being used by UAE, but that was made specifically for UAE and no other country has that, not even United States Airforce.
